Primary purpose of the role
The Program Officer, Special Activation Precincts (SAP) is responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality, effective and timely information and events that meet the objectives of each of the SAPs and is balanced with the needs of the community and program outcomes.
The Program Officer, SAP will provide advice and support to the Program Director, SAP including day to day liaison with key internal and external stakeholders on a broad range of community and communication issues.
Here will also be a strong focus on relationship and issues management with internal stakeholders, councils, and government agencies to plan, deliver and participate in external activities that supports the master planning process.
Key accountabilities
Provide expert advice on a range of issues to the Program Director, the SAP team, and external stakeholders who are partners in the program.
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, which contributes to the positive reputation of DPIE and the SAP team.
Manage projects, identify issues, and resolve problems.
Identify, analyze and recommend opportunities to improve stakeholder relationships, including innovative options, solutions, and practices to support the program externally.
Provide support for the SAP team on external-facing strategies.
Ensure positioning and narrative is aligned with the program vision and objectives.
Manage the production of external-facing materials and flow of information based on program milestones.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of systems and ongoing improvements to increase team efficiency and effectiveness.
Decision making - The Program Officer:
Works, and receives advice and guidance from the Program Director and other staff, but has responsibility for setting own work priorities within the overall agreed work program
Is required to comply and make decisions and recommendations within applicable legislative and Department compliance and assessment policy, procedures and administrative frameworks and requirements
Manages all aspects of assigned projects
Experience & Knowledge
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant urban and regional planning disciplines
High-level experience in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and project management
Essential requirements
Degree in communications or another relevant discipline
Willingness to travel and (minimum) Class C Driver’s Licence
