Title: Application Support Engineer
Rate Range: $140,000 + super + bonus
Duration: Perm
Location: Sydney, CBD

The Role:

As a Application Support Engineer, you will work closely with technology & trading teams globally to provide world-class support to investigate and resolve a variety of technical and business issues every day. This is a role that will focus on supporting, managing, optimizing and troubleshooting the production trading environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Development, Trading and Infrastructure teams to troubleshoot issues, make continuous improvements, and configure the trading system
  • Implementing configuration changes and software upgrades
  • Providing front-line response to incidents and outages
  • Providing hands on Trade Floor Support to the Asian markets trading teams
  • Assisting parties through the onboarding and conformance process
  • Responding to internal and external support requests
  • Provide in-office technical support to traders using our proprietary trading system
  • Liaising, and forming strong working relationships with both internal and external parties (including traders, exchanges and vendors)
  • Monitoring of services and infrastructure = using a combination of in-house written tools as well as 3rd party tools (Icinga.)
Skills you'll need: 
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role with the ability to ensure excellent customer service and technical knowledge to triage, diagnose, troubleshoot, and escalate or resolve customer application issues.
  • A rigorous, detail-oriented approach to operation
  • Excellent business facing communication skills 
  • Proven experience working under pressure and to balance competing priorities to deliver timely outcomes
  • Familiar with version control and change management, e.g GIT.
  • Tertiary qualification in IT  
Nice to haves
  • Understanding of Electronic Execution (Algorithmic & DMA trading) and FIX protocol
  • Experience with one of the following trading exchanges: ASX, OSE, HKFE.
  • Linux and network troubleshooting skills
  • Prior experience supporting a production trading environment (L1/L2/L3)
  • Scripting experience (Bash, Python)
  • Working knowledge of puppet/puppet deployments.
  • Working knowledge of Icinga
